Mas dough

About us

Masdough was born during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. After the restaurant I worked at, Nami Nori in Manhattan, closed its doors, I found solace in cooking restaurant-quality meals for family and friends when they couldn't dine out. Just as life began to feel normal again, I faced the hardest challenge of my life when my family and I were told that my grandmother was taken to the hospital. Unfortunately, I never saw her again. Our matriarch, my role model, and best friend was gone. I situated my entire career path based off of trying to be like my grandmother, she was the best cook I've ever known! In my grief, I started recreating her cherished recipes and sharing them with families in NYC. The food was great, but ultimately it didn’t fill the emptiness I felt. That’s when I turned to baking—something that always brought me happiness. I dove into making cakes, bread, and especially chocolate chip cookies. The simplicity of cookies became a rewarding challenge; I became obsessed with perfecting my recipe. After countless hours, over a hundred batches, and endless research, I finally made the perfect recipe. Each cookie is crafted with love and care, made from organic ingredients that reflect the passion my grandmother instilled in me. I like to think that some of the passion for food that she passed on shows in each batch of cookies I make. I hope that with every bite, my cookies bring joy and warmth, just like she did.

About the chef

Hi, my name is Alisha, I’m a passionate cookie entrepreneur, first-time mother and chef. My love for cooking started at a very young age, inspired by my mother and grandmother, who passed down family traditions and flavors from our Peruvian, Puerto Rican, and Cuban roots. My grandmother, who attended culinary school in Peru, taught me everything I needed to know about food, technique, and the heart and love that goes into every dish.

In 2017, I graduated from the International Culinary Center and have been working in the industry ever since. I've had the honor of working in several Michelin starred restaurants in New York City, including The Nomad Restaurant, Al Coro, Nami Nori, Peak Hudson Yards, and even internationally at Central Restaurant in Peru. Each experience has deepened my appreciation for how food connects people across cultures and generations.

Today, I baked cookies weekly for a local coffee shop in Queens, NY and participate in pop-up events around New York City to share my creations with more people. My dream is to one day open my own brick-and-mortar bakery, where I can bake more cookies with the community!

Makings these cookies isn't just a business it's deeply personal. Each batch carries my story, my heritage, and my love for creating something that brings people joy!
